Independent Indiana adds national political organizer ahead of Indianapolis panel
Will ConwayIndependent Indiana, the three-week-old organization aiming to boost independent candidates across the state, is adding a nationally known strategist to its team.
Will Conway, who has helped build independent movements across the country, has signed on as the group’s new director of operations. He arrives in Indiana just hours before Independent Indiana hosts its first in-person event tonight in Indianapolis.
Conway has held top leadership roles at the forefront of the independent movement. He served as national organizing director for No Labels, where he built the infrastructure for an independent presidential campaign in 2023 and managed the largest department in the organization. Previously, he served as national organizing director for the Forward Party, where he cultivated a nationwide community of 35,000 volunteers and identified 235 state leaders across 47 states to serve in full-time volunteer roles.
Independent Indiana executive director Nathan Gotsch called the hire a sign of how quickly the new group is gaining traction. “Will is a nationally recognized leader in this space, and his willingness to come on board says a lot about the momentum Independent Indiana has built since our launch three weeks ago,” Gotsch said.
Conway said his decision to join reflects his belief in the unique opportunity Indiana presents. “My focus is on supporting and strengthening people-powered movements, and that’s exactly what Independent Indiana is,” he said. “What Nathan and his team have built in such a short time is impressive, and it’s clear there’s growing excitement for a new, people-driven approach to politics. I’m proud to join the team and help them continue their growth.”
